It's A Time of Change In Panama

Things have been busy for us here at Local Travel Excursions. There has been a recent surge in folks leaving Panama for a variety of reasons. Many of our clients have reported the primary reason for their departure from Panama is in direct relation to the current changes in the immigration law. It is definitely a time of uncertainty here as the government makes changes in the laws as well as the implementation. As many have heard, Panama has decided to tighten up on immigration and unfortunately gave many residents little to no notice of these changes. Without getting "political" I will say that there are generally two schools of thought concerning these changes; Panama needed to make necessary changes to get a handle on all its immigrants or the way Panama went about implementing the change was inappropriate and caused unnecessary distress for 1,000's of people. Either way, many are deciding to leave. In a time of uncertainty, we are glad to have been able to help many with their move back "home." The various experiences have helped us share more possible downsides of moving abroad. There

have also been many people who offered additional services, which was a pleasant surprise and greatly appreciated.

As the laws have changed it has been interesting to learn that not all attorneys are created equally. Not everyone knew of the changes. Not everyone knew how to help their clients. Some clients got stuck with paying for a visa only to learn that it was no longer available. Money lost... How does that happen? Ask around. The horror stories are many.
